Georgia shatters its Day 1 early voting record for a midterm
The surge was about 40% higher than 2022, and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said it shows confidence in Georgia's election system.
- On Saturday, October 17, 2026, organizers across hundreds of advocacy groups will coordinate thousands of 'No Kings: Vote Early Day of Action' events nationwide to encourage early voting in this year's midterm elections.
- Indivisible co-founder Ezra Levin said the movement's messaging 'is largely completed,' shifting focus from previous protests to direct action. The coalition previously mobilized millions across events in June 2025, October 2025, and March 2026.
- More than 3,000 actions are coordinated by a nine-group steering committee including Common Cause and the ACLU, with volunteers trained to assist voters. 'It's not just protesting, it's participating,' said Omaha MoveOn cohort organizer Kate McDonnell, 67.
- With roughly 5.1 million ballots already cast according to the University of Florida Election Lab, activists aim to prevent interference. Common Cause senior organizer Alma Couverthie stated the goal is turnout 'so clear, and so overwhelming that our victory for democracy is impossible to question.'
- The Republican National Committee maintains its focus on election integrity, with the White House referring inquiries to the committee. RNC election integrity communications director Ally Triolo stated Republicans are 'restoring the rule of law' to make voting 'easier to vote and harder to cheat.
