Trump midterm election speech closes roads around Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool Monday
Road restrictions began at 6 a.m. and were expected to lift by 4 p.m., with the Secret Service warning of additional closures if needed.
President Donald Trump delivered his closing speech ahead of the November 3, 2026, midterm elections at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., on Monday, November 2.
Authorities introduced extensive road closures around the Lincoln Memorial beginning at 6 a.m., with additional traffic restrictions scheduled to take effect at 1 p.m. to accommodate the presidential event.
The U.S. Park Police advised motorists to use alternative routes, warning that most affected roads were expected to reopen by approximately 4 p.m., although some restrictions could remain in place longer.
Trump used the occasion to highlight renovations to the Reflecting Pool, a project that faced criticism over its rising costs, construction delays, algae problems, and a damaged pool liner.
Rather than making a final campaign appearance in a key battleground state, Trump chose to focus on the Washington renovation project while Republicans sought to retain control of Congress amid voter concerns about living costs and the economy.
