In recent weeks, the West Bank has become more than just a scene of increasing security tensions; it has become the arena for the formation of a new political and geographical reality; a reality in which the development of settlements, the expansion of their related infrastructure, and increased pressure on the Palestinians are proceeding simultaneously.

Professor Afraim Ahnbar was the first Prime Minister to adopt the E1 building plan, and he and his successor prime ministers were prevented from implementing the plan because of the opposition of the US and the international community. The current government therefore deserves to be congratulated on the start of the implementation of its decision to build in the E1 area.
