Troops Foil ISWAP Attack, Kill Several Terrorists, Recover Weapons in Borno

Operation Hadin Kai troops neutralized two vehicle-borne bombs, killed several ISWAP militants, and seized weapons and supplies during a coordinated attack on their Mairari base.

  • On Saturday, Operation Hadin Kai troops repelled a coordinated ISWAP attack at a Forward Operating Base in Mairari, thwarting the overnight assault with ground and air operations.
  • Using VBIEDs, ISWAP militants attempted to breach the base, but Lt Colonel Sani Uba confirmed Saturday they were detected and destroyed by defensive fire.
  • Following the thwarted assault, joint forces including OPHK Sector 3 troops, Theatre Command Quick Reaction Group, Nigeria Police Crack Team and Civilian Joint Task Force recovered numerous casualties and seized items including AK-47 rifles, PKT rounds, hand grenades, motorcycles, communications gear and medical supplies.
  • Command emphasised there was no breach and highlighted the operational readiness and professionalism of command personnel and troops on duty at the Mairari Forward Operating Base.
  • Operation Hadin Kai will continue aggressive patrols to deter further terrorist activity and reassure local communities in Borno State, prioritizing protecting civilians, disrupting terrorist networks, and restoring peace.
