Hundreds of Islamic State prisoners were transferred from Syria to Iraq on Saturday (24/1), in the second such operation after the US announced that it intended to transfer thousands of jihadists currently held in Syrian prisons. “The transfer of prisoners is underway, US forces are transporting them by land and air,” an Iraqi security official said, noting that “up to 1,000 IS prisoners are expected in Iraq today.”
