Intense heat this afternoon will turn to scattered strong storms this evening, some storms could be severe in central and eastern Iowa.

We are tracking showers and storms tonight with the potential of severe weather. Due to this, the Storm Prediction Center has us under a level 3 of 5 risk.

Strong to Severe Storms Possible into Tonight - Mix 94.7 KMCH

After a mainly dry afternoon, another more significant round of storms will form this afternoon into tonight. The National Weather Service says a majority of eastern Iowa is under a Level 3 out of 5 Enhanced Risk. The first of these storms are expected to be supercell thunderstorms, developing between 3 and 7 pm north of Interstate 80.
