2026 Toyota Yaris Cross Facelift Revealed, Australian Plans Unclear
The facelift adds a new front end and fresh trim, while Toyota says sales fell 18.5% in the first quarter.
- Toyota has unveiled a refreshed Yaris Cross with a new front-end design, though it remains unclear if this update will reach Australia. The local model is sourced from Japan, while the facelift targets European-spec vehicles.
- Originally launched in late 2020 to rival the Mazda CX-3, Nissan Juke, and Ford Puma, the Yaris Cross currently holds second place in the light SUV sales segment. It was last updated midway through last year.
- The facelift introduces a honeycomb mesh grille, New LED headlight signatures, and 17 or 18-inch wheel designs. Interior updates feature platinum-coloured door trim and sports seats, though mechanical specifications remain unchanged.
- Despite an 18.5 per cent sales drop in the first quarter, Toyota has sold 2456 examples this year. It trails the Mazda CX-3 but leads the Suzuki Jimny 4x4 , Koia Stonic , and Hyundai Venue .
- CarsGuide has contacted Toyota Australia to determine if the refreshed model will arrive locally. The current Australian Yaris Cross uses a 1.5-litre hybrid setup with lower output of 85kW and 141Nm than the European version.
