Toyota introduces reliability updates to WEC Hypercar following Austin heartbreak
Toyota said new hydraulic and software updates address two race-ending problems after the #7 car’s late failure and the #8 car’s penalty in Austin.
- Ahead of the 6 Hours of Fuji, Toyota has reworked the hydraulic system and software code for its TR010 Hybrid following technical failures during the recent Lone Star Le Mans race in Austin.
- Technical director David Floury confirmed the #7 Toyota suffered a hydraulic failure while leading, and the #8 car encountered a previously unseen software bug triggered by pit-launch conditions that caused a pitlane speed violation.
- Victor Martins topped FIA WEC Free Practice 2 at Fuji Speedway in the #36 A424 with a 1m29.304s lap, while the Genesis GMR-001 showed competitive promise during the South Korean team's first race weekend in Asia.
- Nyck de Vries emphasized that "one or two tenths going forwards or backwards can cost you many positions across the whole field," highlighting the razor-thin margins in the championship battle ahead.
