Willis Collier was given permission to use a camper for a temporary residence at his newly acquired property at 6459 S. US 31 while he constructs a barndominium on a 10.95 acres recently cleared parcel. A barndominium is a pole barn type structure with large garage and residential area. Following council ordinance Collier was approved for a year with the council re-visiting his construction progress in 12 months. Collier told the council that his business, Willis Contracting Cutting LLC is a timber clearing business which travels to 37 states for work when companies hire him. He told the council that when he is traveling his camper is with him and as a result may not have construction completed for 2-3 years. The council learned that the town’s new water tower on Industrial Way is scheduled to be delivered and installed beginning in August. In another infrastructure matter, as a part of the $207,000 Community Crossing grant, the bridge in the 200 block of S. Preston Street was scheduled to begin construction last week. It is expected that the bridge replacement and re-surfacing Preston Street from Main to Moore will take three weeks and should be completed before the start of classes at Crothersville Community Schools in early August. In a final matter the council approved an ordinance to allow town utility customers to enjoy a once a year sewer adjustment for filling swimming pools.
