A 51-year-old British tourist was caught in Pompeii trying to take some stones from the archaeological site as a souvenir. However, a tour guide saw him putting them in his backpack and alerted the police. The visitor was arrested and faces a fine of up to 1,500 euros (almost 37,000 crowns) or up to six years in prison.
The tourist told the police that the stones were for his son's collection and that he didn't know it was forbidden to pick them up.
