Σύμφωνα με τον Οργανισμό του Υπουργείου Παιδείας και Θρησκευμάτων, ένας εκ των στρατηγικών σκοπών του Υπουργείου, βάσει του άρθρου 46 παρ. 1, είναι και η «προώθηση των θεμάτων Εκπαίδευσης σε ευρωπαϊκό και διεθνές επίπεδο, η προώθηση της ελληνικής παιδείας στο εξωτερικό, καθώς και η παιδαγωγική, επιστημονική και διοικητική υποστήριξη της παιδείας των Ομογενών».
