Tommy Lee Jones, 80, Makes Ultra Rare Red Carpet Appearance
The Oscar-winning actor will appear in two episodes as Ethan Hawke’s estranged father after creators said he was the right fit for the role.
On Wednesday, Oscar-winning actor Tommy Lee Jones made a rare red carpet appearance at AFS Cinema in Austin for the season two premiere of The Lowdown.
Jones portrays Lee Raybon Senior, the estranged father of citizen journalist Lee Raybon, marking his first regular television work since the ABC soap opera One Life in the 1970s.
In a USA Today interview, Hawke praised his co-star, saying, "He's been through the fires of life," reflecting why he and creator SterlinHarjo sought Jones for the formidable role.
This appearance marked his first red carpet outing since December 2023's Finestkind, as Jones has remained largely out of the public eye following his 34-year-old daughter Victoria Jones's death earlier this year.
The new season of The Lowdown premieres on Wednesday, October 14, on Hulu, giving viewers their first chance to see Jones in the recurring role.
