After the Hamas attack, Tomas Adzgauskas fought in the Gaza Strip and was discharged in April 2024. Haaretz has identified 15 soldiers who died by suicide since the war began, due to mental health issues linked to their military service

After the Hamas attack, Tomas Edzgauskas participated in ground operations in the Gaza Strip, and was discharged from service in April 2024. He was in the process of being recognized by the Defense Ministry's rehabilitation department due to his mental injury. In a post he published before the act, he wrote: "I haven't been able to live with myself for two years."
