With all 19 precincts reporting, Joe Atkins had 71 percent of the vote. Atkins was Dakota County Commissioner for District 4 prior but switched races due to redistricting this year. The winner in November will replace Commissioner Kathleen A. Gaylord. The race also included John Wheeler, who received 9 percent of votes.
