CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) - Friday marked the first chapter of a new era for many people in Charleston as they took the oath of allegiance to officially become United States citizens. Four dozen new U.S. citizens were welcomed at a naturalization ceremony May 23, 2025, at the Robert C. Byrd Federal Courthouse in Charleston, West Virginia. Among them was Dr. Inas Al-Attar, a pediatrician in Princeton but originally from Germany. The ceremony was presided over by Frank W. Volk, chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
