- On Tuesday, Union Road Minister Nitin Gadkari informed Parliament that some BS-III vehicles introduced from April 1, 2005, and manufactured before 2016 may require rubber part and gasket replacements when operated with E20 petrol.
- Research conducted by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd , Automotive Research Association of India , and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers found no need to modify engines for E20 fuel usage. Legacy vehicles showed no significant performance variations.
- Responding to concerns about fuel efficiency, the Minister stated that vehicle mileage is influenced by "a host of factors beyond just fuel type," clarifying that performance issues are not solely attributed to E20 blending.
- The government emphasized that necessary part replacements can be managed during routine servicing, while automobile manufacturers confirmed they continue to honour warranty claims for vehicles using E20 fuel.
- Implementation of the Ethanol Blended Petrol Programme follows a "phased, calibrated, scientifically validated and consultative approach," utilizing ethanol blending practices that have existed globally for over a century.
