France will issue bonds to finance increased defence spending

CHRONIC. The creation of a "defence investment" for individuals is a welcome operation but a delicate management in several respects.

France is planning an investment product that will enable citizens to invest in upgrades, with the aim of raising 450 million euros.

According to Bercy, the defence industry needs €5 billion to recover, a sum that individuals will be able to participate in, but not risk-free.

On Thursday 20 March, Éric Lombard, Minister of Economy, announced the creation of a new savings product by Bpifrance. Soon, the French will be able to place 500 euros (or more), for a period of at least five years, on a booklet financing the defence sector. On the basis of volunteering, the objective is to contribute to the effort of "national defence".
