Africa: Tinubu Departs Abuja Wednesday to Attend G20 Leader's Summit in South Africa
President Tinubu will engage in bilateral talks to promote peace, security, and development, advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda at both the G20 and AU-EU summits.
- On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja for a two-nation visit to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Luanda, Angola, starting with the 20th G20 Leaders' Summit, Bayo Onanuga said.
- Invited by South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa, President Bola Tinubu accepted the 2025 G20 invitation following a 2024 invite from Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and will hold bilaterals to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda and discuss peace, security, and development.
- His delegation includes key cabinet ministers Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Wale Edun, Dele Alake, Jumoke Oduwole, and Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed, while the AU–EU meeting will gather young leaders and Civil Society Organisations.
- At the conclusion of the G20 summit, Tinubu will join the 7th AU–EU meeting in Luanda, scheduled November 23 to 25, 2025, in Angola.
- Bringing global and regional leaders together, the summits cover broad policy areas and include leaders from the world's top 20 economies, European Union and African Union representatives, and financial institutions attending the G20.
