President Tinubu nominated 21 individuals for key regulatory boards overseeing Nigeria's oil and gas sector and urged the Senate to confirm them promptly.
- On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu forwarded letters to the Senate seeking confirmation of 21 nominees to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority and Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission boards, Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga disclosed.
- President Bola Tinubu charged the appointees to perform professionally to secure effective oversight and urged the Senate to confirm nominees promptly after CEO appointments of Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed.
- Several executive commissioners were named to the NUPRC, including Muhammed Sabo Lamido for Finance, Edu Inyang for Exploration and Acreage, and Justin Ezeala for Economic Regulation, among others.
- In Rivers, Minister Nyesom Wike thanked the president and lauded the appointments as unprecedented, celebrating Senator Magnus Abe's nomination and urging continued support for Tinubu on Monday.
- The NMDPRA slate blends new and previously appointed officials, including Adegbite Ebiowei Adeniji, nominated chairman, a lawyer with over 30 years' experience, and appointees from 2021 to 2024.
