Tim Hortons Announces ‘Flight Roast’ as Canadian Brands Search for Ways to Differentiate Themselves
The partnership will later let WestJet Rewards and Tims Rewards members link accounts, while Tim Hortons says the coffee is blended for high-altitude flights.
Starting Nov. 30, WestJet will serve a custom-crafted Tim Hortons 'Flight Roast' blend on its flights, with a unique recipe specifically designed to taste its best at 35,000 feet.
WestJet Group Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer Steve McClelland called the collaboration a 'natural partnership,' noting that few brands are as 'deeply entrenched in the Canadian culture' as Tims.
Designed for high-altitude taste, the roast uses 100 per cent premium arabica beans; Tim Hortons chief marketing officer Hope Bagozzi noted that higher pressure and different brewing temperatures ensure the blend suits passenger taste perceptions.
In 2027, WestJet Rewards and Tims Rewards will allow account linking, building on Tims' recent loyalty collaboration with Canadian Tire Corp. Ltd. to combine rewards.
Bagozzi described the moves as 'realistic' given customer spending priorities, stating Tims gravitates toward Canadian partners to align with its identity as a 'quintessential Canadian brand.
