French education ministry reports TikTok to Paris prosecutor
Social media app TikTok has been reported to the Paris prosecutor's department by the French education ministry over its possible links to mental health problems for young people due to excessive time spent in front of screens, the education ministry said on Thursday.
After announcing that he would refer Tiktok for "incitement to suicide" to the public prosecutor, Education Minister Edouard Geffray told BFMTV that he wanted to raise awareness of the danger of China's social network.
Edouard Geffray pointed out on Thursday the "mortiferous spirals" in which are "enclosed" the youngest, after being passed as a 14-year-old on the social network.
Minister Edouard Geffray called himself a 14-year-old and claimed to have discovered "depressive videos" in less than "20 minutes."
The algorithm of the social network "is made to lock up" in a "piral likely to incite a vulnerable public to commit the irreparable," explained Édouard Geffray.
