Tigers scratch Colt Keith from lineup with sore wrist against Astros, a day after he hit 3 homers
Keith was sidelined after a three-homer, six-RBI game as the Tigers adjusted their lineup against Houston.
The Detroit Tigers scratched Colt Keith from the lineup on Tuesday against the Houston Astros due to a sore right wrist sustained during the previous night's game.
Keith's soreness stems from a defensive play during Monday's 9-3 win, when he backhanded a ball behind third base and slipped after making an off-balance throw to first.
The 24-year-old Keith hit three home runs and knocked in six RBIs during that victory, including an opposite-field shot into the Crawford Boxes in the ninth inning.
Kerry Carpenter moved into the designated hitter role to replace Keith, while Wenceel Perez was inserted into right field for Carpenter's previous position.
Only Hall of Fame outfielder Al Kaline was younger than Keith when he launched three home runs in a game for the Tigers franchise, having done so at age 20 on April 17, 1955.
