The Czech Republic experienced its hottest day since the beginning of the year today, with the heat being felt mainly in South Moravia, most notably in Lednice, where meteorologists recorded 35.8 degrees Celsius. The threshold for a so-called supertropical day, i.e. 35 degrees, was measured by six stations measuring for at least 30 years. Šimon Kolář from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) told ČTK.
On Thursday, the Czech Republic experienced its highest temperatures since the beginning of the year. The hottest was in Lednice in South Moravia, where meteorologists measured 35.8 degrees Celsius. Several stations broke the temperature record for June 26th.
A tenth of the stations measuring for at least 30 years also set a temperature record for June 26, and at one, in Dukovany in the Vysočina region, meteorologists also recorded an absolute June maximum. In Dukovany, the temperature reached 34.5 degrees Celsius, half a degree higher than the previous maximum for June 26, 2019, and 0.2 degrees Celsius higher than the June absolute maximum from June 22, 2017.
