- Dec. 23, 2025: Ben Simmons, Three-time NBA All-Star and former No. 1 overall pick, purchased a majority stake in the South Florida Sails Angling Club, Sport Fishing Championship announced.
- While rehabbing and unsigned, Ben Simmons joined the South Florida Sails Angling Club after SFC opened the club to a competitive bidding process announced by CEO Mark Neifeld.
- Among new partners are Brad Adam, founder of Xotic Outdoors with over 25 years' real estate experience and angling pedigree, and investor Hunter Huddleston, who managed more than $94 billion in assets.
- The club had already competed in SFC's 2025 Atlantic Division stops, and SFC said the addition of Simmons underscores the league's momentum and its push to grow offshore sportfishing.
- Simmons said, `I have always believed that investing in what you love means you have a responsibility to help move it forward,' and he continues two-a-day basketball and strength workouts, six days a week, eyeing a comeback this year and expanding Reel One Fishing Club.
