Three teens die in Mackay crash, police seek dashcam footage

On July 18, three teenagers died after a head-on collision between a Mazda 2 sedan and a Great Wall Cannon ute on the Mackay Ring Road in Glenella.
Police say the Mazda sedan attempted to overtake a semi-trailer, heavy fog blanketed the 100 km/h stretch of road.
The 29-year-old Blacks Beach man was taken to Mackay Base Hospital in serious condition, the semi-trailer driver escaped injury and Mackay Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the collision.
Authorities have urged anyone with information or relevant dash-cam footage to contact police, while occupants of a fourth vehicle veered off the road to avoid the crash and were not injured.
This tragedy underscores ongoing safety challenges, at least 151 people have died on Queensland roads this year, Mackay located over 800 km northwest of Brisbane.
