Three men arrested over the arson murders of little boy and great aunt
The men are detained under anti-gangland legislation as detectives continue investigating the fire that killed a four-year-old boy and his great aunt.
- On Tuesday, Gardaí arrested three men—two in their 20s and one in his 30s—investigating the arson murders of four-year-old Tadhg Farrell and 60-year-old Mary Holt in Edenderry, Co Offaly.
- Thugs threw a petrol bomb through a window at Castleview Park on December 6, 2025, an incident Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan described as a 'murderous attack.'
- These arrests bring to four the total number of people questioned regarding the fire. A man in his 20s was previously arrested in January but later released without charge.
- The three men are currently detained at Garda stations in the midlands under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007. They can be held for questioning for up to seven days.
- Jessie, a niece of Mary, emphasized, 'They were innocent,' as family members seek closure and have pleaded for perpetrators to come forward. 'I'd like them to come forward for their own behalf,' one relative said.
