Three Hilltoppers Earn All-American Honors on Day One of NCAA Championships - West Liberty University Athletics

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The West Liberty University wrestling team had a strong showing on the opening day of the 2026 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships Friday at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, with Logan Davis, Khyvon Grace, and Nico Taddy securing All-American honors and advancing to day two of the national tournament.

Fifth-ranked 285-pound Freddie Retter (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) of the 21st-ranked Kutztown University wrestling team battled his way to his second career All-American honor, while six Golden Bear grapplers took the stage on the first day of the NCAA Division II National Championships inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Friday.

Sioux Falls, S.D. – Three Northern State University wrestlers took on the NCAA Championships from the Denny Sanford Premier Center on Friday, each competing in the first national meet of their careers. Sloan Johannsen and Griffin Lundeen closed out their seasons as National Qualifiers, while Rudy Lopez advanced to the second day of competition, earning a top-8 spot and All-American honors.

Damon Ashworth and James Wright Garner All-American Honors at NCAA-II Championships

No. 12 University of Central Missouri Mules Wrestling completed the first two sessions of the NCAA-II Championships at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center on Friday, March 13. Damon Ashworth and James Wright both secured All-American honors. Ashworth made it to the semifinals and James Wright will compete in the consolation finals.
