Royal Mail: Sending a Parcel Is Getting Easier as 8,000 Collect Plus Shops Rebrand to Royal Mail Postage Shops
Royal Mail will rebrand 8,000 Collect+ stores across the UK to Royal Mail Shops, expanding parcel services with extended hours and new in-person postage sales.
- Earlier this year, International Distribution Services acquired a 49% stake in Collect+ with a 43.9 million investment, enabling around 8,000 stores to rebrand as Royal Mail Shops.
- Royal Mail is shifting focus from letters to parcels amid rising online shopping, following IDS's takeover by Daniel Kretinsky's EP Group earlier this year and their May 2024 partnership with Collect+.
- For the first time, customers will be able to buy Royal Mail postage over the counter, with shops offering parcel send, collect and return services and extended hours.
- IDS said the investment bets on the convenience parcel market and gives Royal Mail greater high-street visibility, while Alistair Cochrane called the brand a new destination for shoppers and small businesses after returning to profit.
- Self-Service kiosks are set to be installed from the beginning of 2026, Collect+ has a network of more than 14,000 locations, and Vinted became Royal Mail's first partner last month.
