'Do Not Eat' Recall Warning as Potentially Fatal E.coli Found in Food Item
The 30g packs carry batch code 11293 and a December 2028 best-before date, and customers are told to return them for a full refund.
On Monday, August 10, 2026, Vogel Ltd recalled Rapunzel Das Original Red Clover Seeds for Sprouts and Seedlings after detecting Shiga toxin-producing E. coli, or STEC, contamination.
Affected Rapunzel products include 30g packs with batch code 11293 and a best before date of December 2028, per the Food Standards Agency.
Symptoms associated with the contaminated product include severe diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and HUS, a condition that can lead to fatal kidney failure.
Customers should not grow or consume the Sprouts and Seedlings; instead, return the product to the retailer for a full refund.
A Rapunzel spokesman apologized, stating "We are very sorry for this incident and sincerely apologise," while The FSA issued a "Food Alert for Action" to coordinate retail withdrawal.
