Thousands attend banned Pride march in Hungarian city Pecs

There were some minor incidents, but despite the fact that the march was not permitted, thanks to police security, the human rights protesters marched through downtown Pécs in a good mood this year as well. The mayor marched with the others.
A recent amendment to the law considers that public rallies that promote the rights of queer people are improper and that the rallies were largely peaceful.
The government of the conservative Viktor Orbán passed a law in mid-March to prohibit these gatherings. The organizers therefore declared that it was "a rally against the overpopulation of wild animals, responsible and victims of many road accidents".
Despite the ban on the authorities, several thousand people marched in Pécs, Hungary, to defend the rights of the LGBTQ+ community and denounce the restriction of fundamental freedoms
On Saturday, a counter-protest organized by CitizenGO was held in the city before the banned 5th Pécs Pride parade. Participants spoke out in support of the families, while the events were accompanied by heavy police security.
