Thomas Partey to Plead Not Guilty to Two New Rape Charges in London Court

On Friday at Westminster Magistrates' Court, Emma Fenn said Thomas Partey intends to plead not guilty to two new rape charges and was excused from attending.
After publicity about earlier charges, prosecutors say the new allegations emerged after the first set were widely publicised and stem from claims that Partey twice raped the complainant in December 2020.
The earlier prosecution arose from a Metropolitan Police investigation into 2021–2022 allegations, and Partey was initially charged last year with five counts of rape and one sexual assault, facing a trial in November at Southwark Crown Court.
The magistrate remitted the matter to crown court for a hearing on April 10 and released Partey on bail with a condition he must not contact the alleged victim.
Partey's playing career provides context: he joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 for around £45m, left last year, now plays for Villarreal, has over 50 Ghana national team caps, and was booed by Tottenham fans.
