Darlene sent a number of images that included this subtly beautiful female evening grosbeak that came to her feeder in Sackville sometime this spring. Although females of this species keep the same basic colours year-round, they become slightly enhanced during the breeding season, and we can see that her massive beak is slightly more greenish and the yellow on her nape that extends around her chest becomes more vivid.
