Unrelated Video Shared as Brother of Slain UP Murder Accused Vowing Revenge
A video is going viral on social media claiming to show the elder brother of Asad Qureshi, who was killed in a police encounter in Ghaziabad on 31 May, vowing to take revenge at his younger brother's funeral. The claim is false.
The police have achieved a major breakthrough in the infamous Surya Pratap murder case that took place in the Khoda police station area of Ghaziabad. Sarika Mewati, a fugitive accused carrying a reward of 25,000 rupees, has been arrested. The accused was apprehended on the canal track near the Indirapuram underpass.
On 28 May 2026, 17-year-old Surya Pratap Chauhan and Asad allegedly stabbed Surya with a knife during a fight in Khoda area of Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh. Surya later died while undergoing treatment. Asad, the main accused in the case, died of his injuries in a police encounter on the intervening night of 30–31 May.
