Germany would need 300,000 new apartments in the year. In fact, however, much less is added and so there is a need. In the meantime, according to a study, the housing shortage itself causes economic damage.

Today the "Bau-Monitor 2026" was presented. According to this, 1.35 million flats are missing nationwide. For Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania the deficit is 203,000 flats.
