Polish Muslims have concluded their three-day celebration of Ramadan Bajram – one of the most important holidays in the Muslim calendar, symbolizing the end of the month of fasting. The online discussion that erupted after the recordings were published has stirred up huge emotions.
Last Sunday, footage from Polish cities of groups of Muslims on the streets appeared on the internet. Right-wing politicians quickly seized on the videos from Wrocław and Gdańsk, claiming they were proof of an influx of illegal immigrants from Germany. According to local media, believers living in those cities celebrated the end of Ramadan as they did every year, and only the mosque in Gdańsk has existed since the 1980s.
