Since Monday, November 3rd, the emergency room at Caen Hospital (Calvados) will have to do without all their interns. There are no longer enough doctors in the department to supervise them.
Due to the lack of qualified doctors to supervise them, the emergency services of the CHU of Caen will not be able to accommodate interns for six months from this Monday, November 3, 2025.
This affects the 14 positions filled so far by interns of general medicine, but also the 16 so-called "speciality" interns, i.e. in emergency medicine or geriatrics.
A radical decision has been made when the department no longer has enough doctors to properly supervise the students.
The emergency of the CHU of Caen ceased to receive interns from Monday, because of the lack of doctors to supervise them, a situation "very rare", said the Intersyndicale nationale des interns (Isni).
