This Grocery Chain Was Just Ranked No. 1 for Customer Satisfaction
Trader Joe's achieved an ACSI score of 86, rising 2% to lead the grocery sector while overall satisfaction dropped 1% to 78, with only three chains improving.
The 2026 ACSI grocery report elevated Trader Joe's to the top spot with an 86 score, rising 2% from last year and surpassing Publix after a prior tie.
The ranking is based on a nationwide survey of about 31,000 shoppers conducted throughout 2025, with the national average score falling 1% to 78, using the zero-to-100 rating scale.
Researchers say top scores reflect reliable product quality, checkout speed, store hours and convenience, with H-E-B rising 1% to 83 while Sam's Club scored 82 and Aldi, Costco and Whole Foods tied at 81.
Several chains fell below the national average, including Walmart at 75, Albertsons Companies at 74, and Giant Eagle at 73, while Save A Lot rose 4% to 78 after store and app upgrades.
With only three of the 19 grocery chains measured improving last year, Trader Joe's demonstrates a national chain can succeed by focusing on customer preferences.
