Thousands of Curling Irons Recalled Amid Burn Injuries
Bio Ionic recalled 357,000 curling irons after 258 reports of barrel detaching and six minor burn injuries, posing a safety risk to consumers, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
- In an announcement with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, J&D Brush said the Bio Ionic one-inch-long barrel curling iron can snap and detach, risking burns.
- The irons were sold online and at major beauty retailers from August 2022 through July 2024 for about $165, including Amazon, BioIonic.com, Salon Centric, Ulta, Sephora and Nordstrom.
- The company received 258 reports of the barrel detaching during use, including six minor burn injuries, prompting the safety recall by J&D Brush.
- Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled iron, unplug it, and contact Bio Ionic to register for a free replacement and return the plug using a prepaid shipping label.
- About 357,000 units of model LXT-CL-1.0 with date codes between 0722 and 1223 are recalled, and owners should check the date code engraved on the prongs of the plug.
