Mexico arrests suspect who transported romantic partner of "El Mencho" to hideout before drug lord's deadly capture

- Military intelligence services tracked Oseguera after learning of the rendezvous, and Mexican Defense Secretary Gen. Ricardo Trevilla said U.S. intelligence provided 'very important additional information' confirming the location.
- Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias 'El Mencho', was fatally wounded in an elite Mexican troop raid on February 22, and U.S. agencies had long prioritized him with a $15 million bounty.
- The operation and ensuing clashes killed over 70 people, including 25 Mexican National Guard troops, while CJNG members retaliated by blocking roads in 20 states and torching vehicles and businesses in Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta.
- Following the Feb. 22 operation, authorities seized drugs, weapons and a vehicle from the detainee, who was considered a key logistics operator of CJNG, the defense ministry said.
