Begusarai: Girl Allegedly Raped, Brutally Beaten on Camera in Hotel Room
Police arrested one suspect and are searching for another after a JEEViKA worker was raped at knifepoint and a video of the assault spread online.
- Police said on Tuesday that a woman associated with a Self-Help Group was abducted, raped, and assaulted at Hotel Blue Diamond in Begusarai, Bihar on September 27. Authorities have arrested one suspect and are searching for the second.
- The victim was lured into riding a motorcycle with her neighbor, Vikram Kumar Sahni, who took her to the hotel to meet Rohit Kumar. Both men allegedly locked her in Room 203, raped her at knifepoint, and recorded the assault.
- After reviewing CCTV footage, Begusarai police registered the case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Information Technology Act. A forensics team inspected the hotel room for evidence, while police blocked the mobile number used to circulate the recorded video.
- Criticizing the government, Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav alleged that law and order has collapsed in the state. He slammed Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary and questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on the issue.
- While Sahni is in custody, an SIT is currently conducting raids to apprehend Kumar, who remains at large more than 24 hours after the FIR was registered on Monday. Both accused are brothers-in-law.
