Woman Claims She Told Eleanor Donaldson of Abuse Incident
The jury has heard police interviews and a letter of regret as Donaldson denies 18 historical sexual offence charges involving two complainants.
The trial of former DUP leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson entered its second week at Newry Crown Court on Monday, with Complainant A concluding her testimony after three days of cross-examination.
Sir Jeffrey denies 18 historical sexual offences spanning a 23-year period between 1985 and 2008, while Lady Eleanor Donaldson faces a "trial of the facts" regarding aiding and abetting charges after being deemed medically unfit.
Rejecting suggestions she had "fabricated" abuse, Complainant A recounted incidents involving a "bright light" and alleged Sir Jeffrey "put his tongue in my mouth" while Lady Donaldson "laughed off" the claims as "just a joke."
Defence barristers Ian Turkington and Kieran Vaughan challenged the witness's memory and consistency, with Turkington putting it to her that she had described her recollection as "really foggy" regarding allegations spanning 1985 to 2008.
Legal proceedings continue on Tuesday, when Complainant B is expected to give evidence, having previously reported to police that she remembered two incidents of alleged abuse "vividly.
