The U.S. State Department on Friday (March 13) welcomed the progress made by Taiwan's Legislative Yuan in authorizing the Executive Yuan to sign partial Letters of Offer (LOAs) with the U.S. for military purchases, and urged all parties in Taiwan to set aside political differences and pass a special defense budget as soon as possible to demonstrate Taiwan's determination to strengthen its self-defense.
