UAE Adds 21 People and Companies to Terrorist List over Hezbollah Links
Authorities ordered assets frozen within 24 hours after naming 16 Lebanese nationals and five Lebanon-based entities over alleged Hezbollah ties.
On Wednesday, The United Arab Emirates branded 21 Lebanese individuals and organizations as "terrorists," ordering immediate asset freezes over alleged ties to Hezbollah, the official Emirati news agency WAM reported.
The designated list comprises 16 Lebanese nationals and five organizations based in Lebanon, reflecting the UAE's stated "firm and long-standing commitment to combatting terrorism and extremism in all forms."
Under the resolution, regulatory authorities must identify and freeze assets connected to listed parties within 24 hours, covering any financial or commercial relationships in compliance with UAE law.
Hezbollah denied maintaining any presence inside the UAE, specifically contesting that it operates "under any cover or commercial designation or otherwise."
Abu Dhabi previously arrested five members of a "terrorist network" linked to Hezbollah and Iran in March, which authorities claimed aimed to threaten the UAE's financial stability.
