After his arrest in Spain in 2023 for alleged rape, the club UNAM separated from Alves. The Brazilian was finally acquitted - he still has to pay.
The Brazilian will have to pay the club for violating a clause of conduct from his contract when the authorities captured him in Spain.
The reason has remained on the court of the Pumas. The university club has won a lawsuit against Dani Alves, a 42-year-old former footballer accused of rape and then acquitted with controversy by the justice in Catalonia. The footballer will have to pay “a compensation”, whose figure has not been revealed, for the damages caused to the team, as announced after the decision of the Arbitral Tribunal of Sport (TAS).
The university cadre sued the Brazilian player last March
The Court of Justice of Sport (TAS) decided in favour of the Mexican club UNAM Pumas in the dispute with Dani Alves, recognizing that the contract rebuttal, in January 2023, took place by justice after the player's imprisonment in Spain. According to the Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the decision canceled the determination of the FIFA's Dispute Resolution Chamber, which had condemned the club to indict the Brazilian in 2024.
Former professional footballer Dani Alves must pay compensation to his former club in Mexico for the early termination of his contract following rape allegations. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) in Lausanne has ruled six months after Alves was acquitted in Spain, Mexican club Pumas UNAM has announced.
