EA Will Shut Down The Sims Mobile in January
EA will disable in-app purchases today and shut down servers on January 20, 2026, ending over 50 updates since the 2018 launch as the franchise moves to Project Rene.
- On October 21st, The Sims Mobile will be delisted from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store at 1:30 PM UTC, following EA's final update today.
- Project Rene is slated for mobile and PC, and last year EA announced The Sims Mobile would no longer get new updates as the franchise moves on.
- Starting today, players can no longer spend real money as in-app transactions are disabled, and EA will unlock Build Mode and Create A Sim items on January 6, 2026, giving two weeks to build and create.
- On January 20 at 1:59 PM UTC, EA will shut the game's servers, ending playability though players can still redownload; new players will not be able to join after delisting.
- Longtime players are mourning the shutdown and criticized EA, noting The Sims Mobile launched in 2018, received over 50 updates from three studios, and made $25 million initially.
