Lithuania's parliament has voted to send up to 40 military and civilian personnel to participate in international maritime security operations in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Seimas on Thursday approved a proposal to send Lithuanian troops to participate in maritime security and freedom of navigation operations in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Seimas will decide on Thursday whether to allow more Lithuanian troops to be sent to the operation in the Strait of Hormuz. Last year, the parliament gave the military a mandate to participate in the international maritime security operation in the Strait of Hormuz and allowed the deployment of up to five soldiers and civilian employees of the national defense system.
