OMV and Slovakian Transpetrol have finally buried a long-term project: In order to secure Austria's oil supply in the long term, OMV planned to build an oil pipeline from Bratislava to Schwechat back in 2003. However, the project was halted by the energy revolution and Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, the Lower Austrian Economic Press Service announced.
For 20 years, OMV has tried to connect a pipeline from Schwechat to the Russian network via the Czech Republic with the Slovak company Transpetrol. The project is now definitively abandoned. The main reason is the energy transition.
