The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, a holiday icon, is illuminated in New York
The 75-foot Norway spruce from East Greenbush features 50,000 LED lights and a 900-pound Swarovski star, donated by the Russ family to honor a late relative and aid Habitat for Humanity.
- Wednesday night, NBC and Peacock aired the Rockefeller Center tree lighting live from Rockefeller Plaza, where country star Reba McEntire hosted alongside TODAY anchors Craig Melvin, Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie.
- The donated Norway spruce from East Greenbush, N.Y., was hauled to the plaza Nov. 8, 2025; it is about 75 years old, 75 feet tall, weighs 11 tons, and was planted by Dan's great-grandparents.
- More than 50,000 LED lights wrapped the tree, and organizers say the Swarovski star weighs about 900 pounds with 70 spikes decorated by 3 million crystals.
- Thousands of attendees at Rockefeller Plaza watched 50,000 LED lights blink to life shortly before 10 p.m. EST, featuring Gwen Stefani, Michael Bublé, Marc Anthony, and the Radio City Rockettes in a tradition dating to the early 1930s.
- The tree will remain lit through early January, and after display it will be milled into lumber for Habitat for Humanity.
