The Liberal Party says no to Melkøya compromise – no majority in the Storting

The Liberal Party and the Christian Democratic Party both receive 3 percent and two seats each in a recent poll. The liberal parties are thus far from a majority in the Storting.

The Storting has voted on a number of different proposals to stop the electrification of Melkøya, but none of them reached a conclusion.

The large-scale industrial venture in Øygarden is therefore not something that the Liberal Party wants, writes Stian Oen (Ap).

FRP politician Per-Willy Amundsen believed there was a majority against the electrification of Melkøya before the vote in the Storting. But at the last minute, the Liberals withdrew support -- and flipped the balance of power. Now Amundsen warns of sharply increased electricity prices.
