The Revival of a Classic: Citroën Unveils New Electric Version of Its 2CV
Citroën says the concept is designed as a lighter, simpler electric city car, with production planned by 2028 and a €15,000 starting price.
- At the 2026 Paris Motor Show, the Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso 2+2 coupe debuted, with the automaker stating the concept embodies the design direction for its future electrified models.
- Abandoning its previous all-electric mandate for Europe, North America, and China, Alfa Romeo adopted a new strategy including electric, plug-in hybrid, full-hybrid, and mild-hybrid powertrains "without sacrificing the brand's distinctive values."
- Under the hood, the 4700mm-long Cuorerosso features a hybrid-assisted twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 engine, while its "Coda Tronca" truncated tail design contributes to a claimed drag coefficient of 0.28.
- The Cuorerosso will not enter production, Alfa Romeo confirmed, describing the vehicle as an "authentic manifesto" intended to inspire future design rather than serving as a direct Brera successor.
- Future models, including a successor to the Tonale crossover expected in 2028, will borrow styling elements from this concept as the brand continues utilizing internal combustion engines.
